Very friendly bakery. No one spoke English and there were no labels on the case, so I asked for the only pastry I knew of - concha (thanks Great British Baking Show)! It was my first time trying a concha, so I have no bar to compare it to. Nonetheless, it was fresh and delicious and very affordable.
This place is awesome, friendly, clean and well kept. Its in the hood and the store front looks hood. But please don't judge the pan dulce on the look of the store. It bread was fresh and made in that morning like a good Mexican bakery would.
This is a no frills bakery. You can smell the bakery as you walk along Moody St. I don't believe anyone speaks English but you can't go wrong with any of the breads or muffins. I would recommend just getting one of each which is basically what I did today with the help of a customer who spoke a little English. The breads are a bit sweet but excellent with a cup of coffee or tea.
We got a couple of different pastries to try, but this one was a home run with my son. It's sweet and light and a perfect snack! I went back again today (only 4 days later) to get another half a dozen. They apparently opened in mid-January. It's definitely a hole in the wall with minimal decor, but the goods are what matter to us. This is definitely going to be a go-to bakery for us going forward! Check it out!
